David Branning, secretary for the RC Laser Class of North America sent in the race report that after day two at the Marco Island Mid-winter Championship, and 8 races completed, Jim Kaighin, the defending champion, has work himself into first place, not counting throwouts.

With one throwout, Marco’s Rocky Cale would be the leader with Jim Kaighin and Hank Buchanan tightly grouped in 2nd and 3rd.┬áRacers get one throwout for every 6 races, so the hope is that we get in more than four races tomorrow.

The winds were strong enough to use the C sail in the first race today and they were blowing out of the southwest. Then we sailed the rest of the day with the B sail in perfect 86 degree weather with winds in the 10-15 knot range.

Gorgeous conditions!

The PRO, Dave Brawner kept the day moving rapidly thru 21 heats on the day. Tomorrow’s forecast looks a little iffie as some thundershowers could wipe out the morning.

Stay tuned!
