Mid-Winter Regatta Underway in Marco Island

Dave Branning, Secretary of the North American RC Laser Class reports that the first day for the Marco Island Midwinter Championship was a huge success.

Fresh southerly breezes allowed for long, true windward-leeward courses sailed with B sails exclusively all day.

The skippers had dozens of practice races before the seeding races began at 2 pm.

Thirty two RC Lasers began the reagatta with each skipper sailing two back to back races in a fleet of 10-11 boats for each group. The groups were evenly balanced on the basis of past experience.

Each skipper got to count one of the two races sailed but the combined score of the two races were used to seed them for tomorrows promotion relegation format.

So after today (Friday) here are the rankings of the skippers who will sail in the three fleets of the championship mid-winter regatta tomorrow morning.
