DESCRIPTION:NOTICE OF RACE\n2024 RC Laser Fall Festival Regatta\nSaturday\, September 28th 2024\nRC Laser AMYA Region 3 Championship\nHosted by Triangle Model Yacht Club AMYA #28\nAt Lake Crabtree County Park\n4317 Lake Crabtree Park\, Morrisville\, NC 27560 \n1. RULES AND GOVERNANCE:\n1.1. The event will be governed by the current edition of the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) as changed by Appendix E\, and the current applicable Heat Management System (HMS). 1.2. No US Sailing Prescriptions apply except Appendix R and prescriptions to rules 60.3\, 61.4\, 67\, 70.5(a)\, 76.1. \n2. CHANGE TO RULE:\n2.1. 90.3(e) Replace “24 hours” with “5 minutes”. \n3. EQUIPMENT INSPECTION:\n3.1. At the discretion of the PRO\, checks of randomly selected boats may be conducted during the event to confirm that they comply with class rules.  \n4. RISK STATEMENT:\nRRS 3 states: “The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue racing is hers alone.” Sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore involves an element of risk. By taking part in any of the events covered by this NOR\, each competitor agrees and acknowledges that:\n4.1. They are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and accept responsibility for the exposure of themselves and their boat to such inherent risk whilst taking part in the event whether afloat or ashore.\n4.2. They accept responsibility for any injury\, damage or loss to the extent caused by their own actions or omissions.\n4.3. Their boat is in good order\, equipped to sail in the event and they are fit to participate.\n4.4. The provision of a race management team\, patrol boats\, umpires and other officials and volunteers by the organizer does not relieve them of their own responsibilities.\n4.5. The provision of rescue boat cover is limited to such assistance\, particularly in extreme weather conditions\, as can be practically provided in the circumstances  \n5. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY:\nEach competitor shall provide proof of current AMYA or their National Authority membership \n6. REGISTRATION AND FEES:\n6.1. The event fee per boat is $25 and $10/guest.\n6.2. The PRO has been directed to record any incidents\, which will be dealt with to the full extent available. TMYC Triangle Model Yacht Club\, regatta staff & race officers\, and/or any other parties involved in the organization of this event refuse all responsibility whatsoever for loss\, damage\,  injury\, or inconvenience that might occur to persons and goods\, both ashore and on the water because of entering or participating in the event covered by the official Notice of Race. The regatta is organized under the overall authority of the MIMYC and the American Model Yacht Assocation (AMYA) RC Laser Class. \nVENUE: Cale Model Yacht Sailing Center\, Frank E. Mackle Community Park\, corner Balboa CT and S. Racing can be observed from the club balcony. \nSCORING:  The scoring system as defined in RRS Appendix A shall be used. \nSeeding races will be run on Saturday to determine placement in either the Gold or Silver fleet. \nGroup heat racing will apply for seeding races. \nWhen 6 races or more have been completed in the seeding races\, a boat’s score shall be the total of her races scores excluding her worst score. This modifies Appendix A2.1. \nGold and Silver fleet races will be run on Sunday. A boat’s series score for Gold or Silver does not include scores from the seeding races. \nBoats will be divided into Gold and Silver fleets based on the results from the seeding races. \nWhen 6 races or more have been completed in Gold or Silver races\, a boat’s score shall be the total of her races scores excluding her worst score.
