2020 RC Laser National Championship Regatta

RULES: The regatta will be governed by the “rules” as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), as modified by Appendix E, Notice of Race, Sailing Instructions, and the AMYA RC Laser Class Rules.

ELIGIBILITY: The regatta is open to all AMYA RC Laser Class members with boats recorded with the AMYA or current card-carrying members of a foreign radio control sailing organization. This is considered an AMYA GOLD Chevron event, therefore membership in the AMYA is required. Discounted AMYA memberships will be available to new members on registration form. Membership includes a subscription to Model Yachting Magazine & extra items!

SCHEDULE:

ENTRY FEE: $85.00 Regatta will be limited to 30 boats. (see below)

REGISTRATION/ENTRY FORM: Electronic registration opening date will be November 4th, 2020, 8pm (EST), First come-First serve for first 30 skippers* only, but a “waiting list” will be started if oversubscribed. Any withdrawals prior to January 1st will be filled from “Waiting List” only. No refunds for withdrawals after January 7th, 2021.

Skippers must be entered by completing online registration Entry Form and submitting it prior to January 20th, 2021 with an Entry Fee of $ 85.00. Entry fee includes Friday evening Skippers Reception w/light snacks with cash bar at the Corpus Christi Yacht Club, lunch Saturday and Sunday and event T-shirt.

SCORING: We will be utilizing the RC Racing Scoring System known as Heat Management System (HMS) sometime refer to Promotion/Relegation with a 4-up/4-down format.

TROPHIES: 1st – 6th Places, & Special Awards.

CHAMPIONSHIP HOST HOTEL: Due to new 2021 Hotel Corporate requirements we will now not have an official Host Hotel but list the Hotels that have been used in the past with great reviews, rates and conveniently close to Host Yacht Club and Racing Venue. See below and/or possibly check your 2nd party providers (Expedia.com, Hotels.com, Booking.com, or Priceline.com) for better rates than we can assure with a group rate!

Side note for your planning: According to 2019 NOAA’s National Climate Data Center, four of the top 10 cities in the United States with population greater than 100,000+ is in Texas. Corpus Christi rated as one of the highest average wind speed cities in the US per year.

Note to self……. Bring all your rigs! You have been warned!

Launching Area at Venue: During normal outing for the Club’s regatta over the last three years, we have not ever experienced water lapping over the concrete sidewalk giving us a dry launching area. And with any kind of luck this should be no different unless we experience an unusual high tide due to any adverse weather in the Gulf of Mexico.
