The St. Patrick’s Day Regatta, part of the Liberty RC Laser League, was successfully completed under challenging yet exciting conditions at the Raritan Yacht Club on the Raritan Bay. The day began with cloudy and misty weather, creating a cool and atmospheric setting for the races.

A total of 18 heats were conducted, with nine races in the morning session and nine in the afternoon. Conditions favored the A-sail, with winds reaching 8 knots and in a couple of races coming down to 2 knots for a short period, adding another layer of strategy. Each heat presented its own unique challenges due to fluctuating wind speed, shifting wind direction, and varying tide conditions. The competition was fierce, with many close finishes throughout the day adding to the excitement.

Lunch provided a well-deserved break and a chance to connect with old friends and make new ones, featuring a St Patrick’s Day inspired warm corned beef sandwiches and potato leek soup, offering a comforting respite before the afternoon heats.

The regatta concluded with an awards ceremony recognizing the top performers. Congratulations to Danny Vought for securing first place, Frank Scalisi for a strong second-place finish, and Tom Solas for rounding out the podium in third. A big thank you to all participants, organizers, and spectators who contributed to making this regatta a success.

We look forward to the next event in the Liberty RC Laser League series, the Bunny Bowl, April 12th, and anticipate another round of exhilarating competition on the water.
