2015 Ft. Stoakes Down River Race

RULES: The race shall be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing and further Sailing Instructions as mandated by the Race Director (RD). The Professional Race Officer (PRO) has the authority during the course of the event to make changes which will be signaled and announced to the competitors.

ELIGIBILITY: The race is open to all RC Lasers conforming to RC Laser Class Rules. First come first served and there will be a waiting list. Maximum number of entries will be 18 and the final number will depend upon securing chase boats for each skipper. First come first served so register immediately. Skippers enter by submitting the Pay Pal on line registration form prior to September 15th (Deadline) and paying an entry fee –Skipper $25, which includes skipper and chase boat operator lunches, drinks and prize awards for the top five winners. Additional guest lunch is $10.00 per person.

The number of competitors will be limited to 18. Entries will be assigned in the order fully paid entries are received.

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: Competitors participate in the Race entirely at their own risk. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the Race.

RACE SUMMARY: This is a team consisting of a RC Laser skipper and a chase boat operator. Sharing the transmitter back and forth is encouraged.

Depending on weather conditions forecasted for this area, the Race Director has the option (48 hours prior to the Race) to cancel the Race with a full Refund to all the participants.

There will be two starts, a couple minutes apart, of nine boats each. Seeding your start will be based upon your finish in the Trick or Treat Regatta the day before at TAYC. Remember this is a two hour race. Skippers in chase boats (one for each RC Laser racing) will follow their RC Laser and navigate their racing boats down the upper reaches of the Tred Avon River in a westerly direction for a distance of approximately 1-2 miles; sailing around predetermined marks, keeping them to port, and finishing up river to the starting line area set between Fort Stokes and the Baldwin Marina to finish.

Due to limited docking space, a launch will be available for any chase boat electing to anchor out in the river before and after the race.

1145 Skippers & Chase Boats – “man your boats”
NOON Air Horn Blast Sequence Begins for the first fleet
1205 Start of Race – 3 hour time limit for the first boat to finish
1500 PARTY TIME & AWARDS

PRIZES: The event consists of only one race. Five prizes will be awarded at approximately 1515 or earlier – when all boats have finished, to the first 5 Skippers who complete the course in the fastest time.
