AMYA REGION 3 CHAMPIONSHIP

RC LASERS ON SATURDAY – STAR 45s ON SUNDAY

RULES: The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016, as amended by Appendix E for RC sailing, prescriptions of US Sailing, AMYA class rules of the RC Laser Class and Star 45 Class respectively,and further Sailing Instructions as announced by the Race Director during the course of event by posting and/or announcing changes.

ELIGIBILITY: The regatta is open to members of the American Model Yachting Association (AMYA) with RC Lasers and/or Star 45 class boats conforming to their current respective class rules. To join AMYA: http://www.theamya.org/join/

Competitors may enter either or both RC Laser and Star 45 classes

Saturday, June 25, 2016: RC Lasers
Check-in, practice sailing	8:30 am At Edenton Harbor
Skippers Meeting Racing begins following group photo	9:30 am
Lunch break – catered	12:00pm Included in fee
Final race of the day starts no later than	4:00pm
Awards presentation to follow as soon as final scores are tabulated
Dinner – both classes – at Watermans Grill	6:30 pm On your own
Sunday, June 26, 2016: Star 45s
Check-in, practice sailing	8:30 am At Edenton Harbor
Skippers Meeting Racing begins following group photo	9:30 am
Lunch break – catered	12:00 pm Included in fee
Final race of the day starts no later than	4:00pm
Awards presentation to follow as soon as final scores are tabulated

SCORING: The event will be scored under the Low Point System described in the Racing Rules of Sailing Appendix A. For each 7 races are sailed, a boat’s worst score will be excluded. For every increment of 7 additional races sailed, one additional worst score will be excluded from her overall score. Ties will be broken according to Appendix A section 8.1 and 8.2.

PRIZES: Trophies will be awarded to the top three skippers in each class. A special award will be made to the skipper with the lowest combined score in both classes.

WHAT TO BRING: A launching stick for RC Lasers and a launcher for Star 45s.

LODGING: There is a Hampton Inn in Edenton (may be closed for renovations) and there are hotels in Elizabeth City 30 minutes north and Williamston 30 minutes south. There are several B&Bs within walking distance of the harbor, and other houses or rooms may be found on AirBNB. It will be almost impossible to find a room on short notice, so commit now to go and BOOK A ROOM EARLY –like now.
