2023 AMYA Region 3 RC Laser Championship Regatta Report
“The Rockin’ Radio Regatta”
Eleven competitors gathered along the northern shore of Lake Crabtree in Morrisville NC on Sept. 30 for the AMYA Region 3 RC Laser Championship Regatta. It was a pleasant day with a modest breeze from the north, which made for tricky conditions. Trees sheltering the shoreline caused the breeze to swirl, disappear, gust, and change direction throughout the day. These conditions tested everyone’s skills and concentration to the max.
Race director Jason Troy oversaw 15 races. All races were windward/leeward with an offset frequently set at the windward mark. Many of the races were once around as the consistency of the breeze on the course was uncertain. Below are the results for the day.
