2025 Cold Turkey Regatta Report
By Frank Scalisi, Regatta Chairman
After some unexpected construction at Marine Park in Red Bank, this year’s event was moved to Raritan Yacht Club. Big thanks to the RYC members and club for stepping up to help host this year’s event including cleaning the dock.
Fifteen skippers battled shifty and puffy conditions with wind out of the West. “I just auto-tacked” was heard many times throughout the day. B rigs were used by the entire fleet except for the last few races in A-rigs. Dan Vought made the switch first and it proved to be right like many of Dan’s other decisions during the day. Judy Bonanno, our PRO, did a great job of getting us 14 races in before the wind died. Big thanks to Judy for coming to help us.
Congratulations to Dan Vought on his dominant victory winning 9 of the 14 races sailed, also keeping three other 2nd’s and throwing out a 3rd for a net 15 points.
Rounding out the rest of the top 5 was Frank Scalisi (29pts), Tom Sollas (41), Glenn Chalder (44) and Kevin LeCompte (64). This was the last regatta in the 2025 Liberty League Series and all three top spots were still up for grabs.
In the end the series was won by Frank Scalisi (5), then Dan Vought (6) and Glen Chalder (8). MBC Fall Sunday series continues at MBC 12/7, 12/14, and 12/21. All are welcome to come sail. We will also have a very impromptu New Year’s Day Regatta at MBC. Then our MBC/RYC Winter Series starts on 1/4/26.
