2020 Southern Circuit Update #2
The rest of the Southern Circuit Regattas were sailed over the past two weeks. With the previous crazy cold weather in Florida the weather for the rest of the regattas couldn’t have been better. The most wind goes to Sarasota where the regatta ended with everyone using D sails. Congratulations to The Villages winner Alan Perkins and Class Secretary Nick Mortgu who won the Tampa Bay Regatta with a tie breaker over Chris Dingle. Jim Kaighin won both Sarasota and Punta Gorda regattas.
Thank you to our regatta hosts Barr Batzer, John Goldsworthy, Steve Lippincott, Jim Pascalides and Slip Newfield for continuing to support the RC Laser class. Thank you to all the RC Laser sailors from around the country who sailed in this year’s event. Each of the five sailing venues and events are different in their own way and all fun to sail.
The Mid-Winter RC Laser Championship Regatta was one of the most competitive regattas of the season. Jim Kaighin won the regatta with 19 points that went down to the last race over Barr Batzer with 21 points. Third was Jim Flach. Fourth and fifth places went to Eric Leitner and Henry DeWolf
