2023 Cold Turkey / Region 2 Championship & Liberty RC Laser League Regatta Summary

The RYC RC Laser Cold Turkey Regatta, an annual post-Thanksgiving tradition, served as both the AMYA Region 2 Championship and the 4th leg of the 2023 Liberty RC Laser League. A total of 18 skilled skippers from NJ, PA, and CT converged at Raritan Yacht Club for a day of exciting competition.

The fleet was divided into three random groups, and each skipper engaged in 8 heats throughout the day. The racing format involved alternating between racing and resting, providing a dynamic experience for all participants. A-sails were deployed consistently, and the occasional wind lull added an element of challenge, resulting in captivating “drift racing” moments.

At mid-day, a well-deserved break saw skippers enjoying hot minestrone soup and hot turkey sandwiches in the welcoming atmosphere of the Raritan Yacht Club clubhouse.
